Felicitări frate Corneliu!

This past summer, SIS had the privilege of hosting Dr. Corneliu Constantineanu as a Global Research Institute (GRI) scholar. Dr. Constantineanu visited Fuller from Romania where he is Professor and Director of the Theology Department at the University of Arad. In the past 4 years, Dr. Constantineanu helped to found the undergraduate, masters and PhD programs in Public Theology at the University of Arad. Specifically he teaches Pentecostal Theology and Pentecostal didactic theology with a focus on pedagogy in addition to theology.

Although Arad is a secular University and Romania is primarily Orthodox, Dr. Constantineanu has been incredibly supported by the President of the University; the process of opening the new programs and Theology Department has been relatively easy, and Dr. Constantineanu praises God for opening the doors, and receiving favor with administration. While at Fuller, Dr. Constantineanu spent time writing his book entitled, “The Gospel is Public Truth: Biblical Contributions to a Public Theology for the Common Good and Human Flourishing,” as well as a commentary on Romans.

When discussing Public Theology and missional work in the 21st century, Dr. Constantineanu shared these words: “we need Christian Professionals with a very strong theological background so that they can reflect on their profession theological and then bring a contribution to the common good and human flourishing. Because we live in a “global village,” intercultural studies is vital to pursuing common good – we need to have a recognition of the paramount importance of culture, understanding the way culture shapes us and has been shaped by us.”
